in Nearly 200 Skilled Nursing Facilities

CHICAGO and FORT SMITH, ARK. - September 24, 2009 - Allscripts today announced that Golden Living, the nation's leading post-acute healthcare services company, has selected the Allscripts referral management solution to help manage and coordinate patient referrals for 197 of their skilled nursing facilities across the nation.

The Golden Living family of companies provides care and services that directly or indirectly serve the elderly and disabled, including companies that operate nursing homes and provide rehabilitation therapy, hospice care, home health services and temporary healthcare staffing services. Golden Living provides quality healthcare to more than 30,000 patients every day in Golden LivingCenters in 21 states.

The Allscripts referral management solution will enable Golden LivingCenters to connect electronically with caregivers and case managers in thousands of U.S. hospitals, including several hundred hospitals that use the web-based Allscripts Care Management solution to manage care and find locations for patients requiring additional care. Using Allscripts, Golden LivingCenters will be able to receive and respond instantly to electronic patient referrals from hospitals, greatly enhancing their ability to serve patients best suited to their care. Allscripts will deploy the web-based solution for Golden LivingCenters over the next 90 days.

"We expect to receive increasing numbers of electronic referrals from hospitals as they seek to speed and streamline that critical process, so it makes sense to partner with Allscripts, the leader in that space," said Hal Price, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Golden Living. "Allscripts will make it much easier for our skilled nursing facilities to respond quickly to hospital discharge planners and improve our bottom line performance by accommodating more patients who are best matched to our type of care."

Allscripts post-acute solutions enable care facilities to track all patient referrals in a single system. Customers automatically receive and respond to referrals from hospitals, enter referrals from non-electronic sources, and collect important marketing information. Allscripts also enables clients to manage tasks involved in the intake process, generate business letters and documents, and send referrals to the next appropriate level of care.

"Being in a hospital is traumatic enough without complicating the transition that so many people make to longer term care and skilled nursing facilities," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "Our systems automate the search on the hospital side, providing the patient with over 8,000 real choices that are already a part of our network, and then make it easy to accept them by providing the information electronically. Finding the right care facility for an elderly patient with multiple issues used to be like finding a needle in a haystack. Today, thanks to the power of technology, that search takes minutes and opens up a range of options patients never had before."
